Thank you for your interest in serving as a Team Official with Black Gold FC. We sincerely appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time, knowledge, and energy to support our players and teams throughout the season.

Team Officials play a vital role in creating a positive, safe, and enjoyable soccer experience for every athlete. Whether you are serving as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Manager, your leadership, commitment, and dedication help foster player development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the game. The success of our programs depends on the contributions of volunteers like you, and we are grateful for your willingness to make a difference in the lives of our players.

To ensure a safe and professional environment for all participants, all Team Officials must complete the requirements outlined below before participating in team activities.

To ensure a smooth registration process and compliance with Black Gold FC and governing body requirements, all Team Officials and Coaches must complete the following requirements before registration can be approved.

Required for All Team Officials

A valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is required for all team officials. 👉 Click here to learn how to obtain a VSC
All Coaches must review and acknowledge the Coach Code of Conduct.
All Team Managers must review and acknowledge the Team Manager Code of Conduct.

mandatory coach training

All coaches must provide a valid National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Number during registration. If you do not already have an NCCP number, you can create one through the Coaching Association of Canada.

The NCCP system serves as the national standard for coach education and certification in Canada. Maintaining an active NCCP profile ensures coaches can access mandatory training, track coaching development, and meet the registration and compliance requirements established by Black Gold FC, Alberta Soccer, and Canada Soccer.

Black Gold FC requires all coaches to complete four core training modules:

These trainings ensure every coach meets the safety, ethical, and developmental standards expected in modern youth sport while supporting a safe, transparent, and athlete-centered environment across all Black Gold FC programs.

This requirement aligns with national sport standards and helps coaches confidently manage player safety, uphold safeguarding practices, recognize mental health considerations, and maintain appropriate conduct in all interactions. By completing these modules, coaches demonstrate their commitment to athlete well-being and to Black Gold FC's values of professionalism, safety, and excellence.

1. Making Head Way (Concussion Protocol)

This training teaches coaches how to recognize, respond to, and manage concussions in sport. Coaches learn to identify warning signs, follow proper removal-from-play procedures, and understand return-to-sport protocols.

Why it matters: Protecting athletes from the short- and long-term impacts of concussion is a critical coaching responsibility.

2. Rule of Two

The Rule of Two training outlines nationally recognized safeguarding standards designed to protect athletes and coaches through appropriate supervision and communication practices.

Coaches learn how to:

Avoid one-on-one situations
Maintain transparent interactions
Create safe and accountable environments

Why it matters: It strengthens athlete protection, reduces risk, and promotes responsible coaching practices.

3. Mental Health in Sport

This course helps coaches understand the important role mental health plays in athlete development and performance.

Topics include:

Recognizing signs of distress
Supporting athletes through challenges
Creating positive and inclusive team environments

4. Safe Sport
